Diving:

It is only in recent years that the Turkish Riviera has become a popular destination for divers from Europe. In tune with the growth of tourism across the Mediterranean and Aegean coasts, diving centres have mushroomed in most holidays resorts making this coastline increasingly accessible to scuba divers. Dive centres concentrate primarily on training, and many a holidaymaker has been seduced by the silent world after an impromptu dive during a vacation in Bodrum or Marmaris. The. choice of diving available, however, is quite varied and will appeal to experienced divers with differing interests.

Red sponge - Saros, Aegean Sea

Diving conditions are excellent throughout the diving season -April to November- and clear blue waters with viz. of up to 30 metre is the norm. The underwater landscape is varied with reefs, walls, drop-offs and caverns. Marine life may not be as profuse as that found in tropical seas but on most dives one will encounter a range of species of fish including groupers, morays, sting rays, and bream. The observant diver will spot different types of nudibranchs grazing on marine plants and a variety of other molluscs - some like the octopi not as tiny but master of camouflage.

The area is rich with underwater historical artifacts. Coming across a pile of broken amphora or ancient pottery underwater is always an exhilarating experience -a close encounter with the history of these shores.

Sea Kayaking in Turkey

The exciting alternative to explore the famous Kekova region. At your own pace, paddle over the Sunken City and avoid the tourist "rush hour".Now an island, Kekova was once joined to the mainland but it suffered a series of earthquakes and these.geological influences rendered it a city six metres below the sea. The area is off-limits to swimmers and divers so kayaking is the closest you can get to the underwater foundations, walls and mosaics dating back 2000 years. We often disembark at the village of Simena, inaccessible by road and surmounted by a castle with brilliant panoramic view. We also offer longer tours with overnight camping or a weeklong tour kayaking based in Göcek and Kekova. For those with previous experience there is the option to do freedom rentals. Lunch included.

Trekking in Turkey

Trekking in The Mountains behind Kaş are some of the most beautiful anywhere in the Taurus. Below the tree line, & winter snow, are the yayla (highland plateaux.) Falling away from them; canyons, gorges and passes, down which in spring the melting snow rushes. Many of these gorges were important trade routes, some still in use, some completely forgotten, though all at one time jealousy guarded. The scenery is dramatic: extensive pine and cedar forest, outcrops of juniper and plane and varied maquis are topped by the impressive Ak Mountains; snowcapped unit July, thereafter turning a light red until the Autumn snow. Until recently the tracks between villages were for donkeys and pack animals and these tracks can still now be followed, describing meandering and varied terrain instead of the direct vehicle roads which replaced them. Whether your interests be in the steps of forgotten civilisations, the geography and nature of a beatiful land or the attraction of unspoilt village life you will love walking and hiking in Lycian Turkey.
